the really really almost final draft

Dog Movie 10 0624 from Aaron Gilbert on Vimeo.

I'm getting close! Based on feedback, I have tightened things up. The stills go by faster and I picked some music that's a little less "ecclesiastical" (thanks for the adjective Daniela!)

Dog Movie - almost final draft

Dog Movie 10 0623 from Aaron Gilbert on Vimeo.

This is getting much closer to the final version. I had to fight Windows Movie Maker almost all day because certain clips kept freezing. I still want to edit it down a bit....definitely want to speed up the 'slide show' portions.

Draft Midterm Banners for Media + Communication

Here are the drafts of the banners based on my Field of Dogs explorations and the Dog Movie

Legwork for thesis

Taking the protracted route through school has its advantages. I won't even start thesis prep studio until January. I have a strong and detailed thesis proposal and plan written it. My bibliography of articles and online resources is growing. And as of today I have three committee members!

Field of Dogs - Update

I continue to explore generating a field from layers of information about the dogs.

This is the product of last week's exploration.

This what I came up with this week. I enclosed the space, representing how the dogs may see the space. Their pathways are represented by a single object, though it is manipulated to be a bit more chaotic.

Dog Video Take 2

Dog Movie Sketch 10 0608 from Aaron Gilbert on Vimeo.

My second stab at my dog video. The conceptual areas are grouped better....how the dogs use the space and impact the space (and our lives). However, the editing is still really choppy. This is a montage of photos and video. I left the sound in the video this time. I'm not sure how much I really like it like this.

Field of Dogs

The assignment was to generate a field based on cultural information relative to the movie, then use that field as a basis for generation.

I built my field around information of how the dogs and the home interface. I looked at paths they take through the home, how they use the home programmatically, and how they impact the home.

Rough CAD drawing of the condo

Program of dogs' activities

How the dogs impact the home

How the dogs navigate the home

Diagrams combined and brought into Rhino

Computer Models to Inspire Design

I used an abstract form developed as part of a lofting/time-lapse exercise in Rhino to inspire design of a more concrete construct.
